Coolidge Public Library has WiFi hotspots available for check-out. If you are at least 16 years old, have a photo ID, and a Coolidge library card in good standing, you can check out a hotspot for Internet access at home (or anywhere in the continental United States). These hotspots will allow you to connect to the Internet using your computer, tablet or phone. Hotspot checkout is limited to 1 per household. They are checked out for 28 days, are not renewable, and must be returned to the Coolidge Library circulation desk.

The equipment and service is funded by the Federal Emergency Connectivity Fund and can only be provided to patrons who declare they do not have the equipment or service sufficient to access the Internet.

  • How do I qualify?

    • You must be at least 16 years of age with a photo ID, a library card in good standing (balance under $5.00), and do not currently have access to internet at your home.

  • Why does a patron need both their library card AND Photo ID?

    • Due to the higher price of circulating devices, patrons are asked to verify the account attached to the library card they provide to ensure a device is being checked out to the appropriate person.

  • Why do we use the Circulating Device Address Verification Sheet?

    • Only one circulating device should be checked out to a household at a time. This sheet helps to determine whether a patron already has a circulating device or not in their household.

  • Why do items have to be returned to the help desk and not the drop bin?

    • The reason for this is two-fold.

    • 1. Circulating devices are typically more expensive than regular library items. Returning these devices to the front desk ensures that a device is not damaged while being “dropped” on other materials and having other materials “dropped” on the device. This reduces the risk of unexpected damage occurring when the patron does not have possession of the device.

    • 2. Having the patron present for the return of the device ensures that they are fully aware of everything happening with the device and not surprised by any possible fees or fines on their account.
