Stray Animals Intake Temporary Suspended - Updated April 29, 2025

The City of Coolidge has been informed by Pinal County Animal Control that their facility has temporarily suspended animal intake due to a confirmed case of canine distemper within their shelter. As a result, they will be shutting down for the next three weeks to manage and contain the situation.

During this time, the County will not accept any new animals unless the intake qualifies as an emergency (e.g., animals involved in serious injury or public safety threats). Standard stray pickups and owner surrenders are being halted until further notice.

As the City does not currently operate its own animal housing facility, we will also be suspending all stray animal intake effective immediately and until Pinal County Animal Control resumes normal operations.

We ask for the community's patience and understanding during this period and will communicate any updates as they are received from the County.
