Local Practice Tips for Lawyers Appearing in Coolidge Municipal Court

Most non-dispositive hearings can be held by phone upon request.

You may waive your client’s appearance at non-dispositive hearings if you are in good contact, unless the Judge has Ordered your client to appear.

If you attend Court in-person, fill out the sign-in sheet at the front window prior to coming into the courtroom. This triggers your file to be pulled by the Court, as well as
puts the Prosecutor on notice of your arrival.

The Court accepts telephonic pleas and pleas by mail as allowed by the Arizona Rules of Criminal Procedure.

If your client is taking a plea in-person, provide an unsigned copy of the Plea Agreement to the Court at least 48 hours prior to the hearing (court@coolidgeaz.com). This allows
paperwork to be prepared before your hearing to make your appearance more efficient for you and your client.

If you file a motion without including the State’s position, the motion may be held for up to fifteen (15) days for the State to respond.

The Court accepts filings by e-mail (court@coolidgeaz.com).

The Court often distributes Orders by e-mail. The e-mail address on your Notice of Appearance will be used for distribution purposes unless you notify the Court you prefer
to receive documents by mail.

Please notify the Court if your client requires an interpreter.
