Mission Statement

 
It is the mission of the Development Services Department to create a safe environment for the citizens of Coolidge through a public service oriented application of the Adopted Building and Development Codes. The Planning and Zoning Division is dedicated to develop and implement a land use planning program for the protection of the public health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of Coolidge.
 

About Development Services

 
The Development Services Department is responsible for all land use planning matters, including the comprehensive master plan; administration and enforcement of building and safety codes, Coolidge Zoning Code, Sub-Division Code, and City Codes. The Department is also responsible for Economic Development, Historic Preservation and Annexations. The City partners with the Coolidge Chamber of Commerce and other local business organizations to help bring businesses to Coolidge.  ChooseCoolidge.com is a website dedicated to economic development for Coolidge.
 
The duties detailed above are carried out by the Development Services Director, Building Official, Building Inspector, GIS Mapping Coordinator, Permit Tech, Code Enforcement and Animal Control. The department’s staff administers planning, zoning, variance requests, plans reviews, permit issuance, inspections, neighborhood preservation and animal control.
 
The Department operates under the jurisdiction of, and provides administrative and professional support to the Planning and Zoning Commission, Industrial Development Authority and the Historic Preservation Commission.
 
The Development Services Team deals, on a daily basis, with local residents, interest groups, developers and building contractors as well as with other city departments.
