NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

City of Coolidge Community Transit

Public notice is hereby made that the City of Coolidge will conduct a public hearing at the City of Coolidge City Council Chambers, 911 South Arizona Boulevard, Coolidge, AZ at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 8th, 2024 for the purpose of considering a project for which financial assistance is being sought from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The City of Coolidge is applying for federal financial assistance to provide public transportation service as follows: Grant funds will be used to continue the existing deviated fixed route and demand response service known as the Cotton Express (Coolidge) and the regional bus route service known as CART (Central Arizona Regional Transit serving Florence, Coolidge, Pinal County, Central Arizona College and Casa Grande).

Public notice is further made that the City of Coolidge is also applying for federal financial assistance to purchase capital equipment and projects, potentially including buses, capitalized maintenance and other equipment to be identified.

The transportation service will be available to the general public during all hours of operation. The project is expected to be financed by FTA Section 5311 Rural Program public transportation funds, with additional funds to be provided from City of Coolidge Transit funds. The total federal share for operating and capital projects is expected not to exceed $2,300,000.00 .

The City of Coolidge ensures that the level and quality of transportation service is provided without regard to race, color, or national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. At the hearing, the City of Coolidge will afford an opportunity for interested persons or agencies to be heard with respect to the social, economic, and environmental aspects of the project. Comments on the proposed project are invited from the general public, private bus and taxi companies, other public transportation providers and human service agencies. Human service agencies that receive assistance from other Federal agencies for non- emergency transportation services are encouraged to participate and coordinate with the provider in the planning, design and delivery of transportation services. Agencies may obtain copies of the service description and submit proposals for service coordination. Private bus and taxi operators may request copies of the project service description from the above named person and may submit comments on the service as described.

If you wish to comment on any aspect of the proposed project, submit a proposal or a request for service coordination or request a public hearing on this project, you must make your interest known in writing within fifteen calendar days of the date of this publication and provide your comments within fifteen calendar days of your receipt of the project service description. Your requests and/or comments must be forwarded to the above person.
